Journey to Rome
Starting in the first form the Latin lessons will teach you much about the ancient Romans´ lives. All pupils therefore love going to Rome in the 5th form. They have listened to the stories of pupils who have already been there and are very eager to have a look at famous Rome themselves.

The theoretical lessons will come to life during the journey. It is quite a thrill to finally stand in the Forum Romanum, the centre of the town. A daytrip to Ostia, which can be compared to Pompeii, where nothing has changed for the odd 2000 years or so. |

There’s more to do in Rome than just visit the Forum Romanum. What about the Coliseum, where they used to hold gladiator fights; the triumphal arches, but also the splendid fountains and obelisks. There are beautiful churches, too many musea to mention, and all of that is, usually, accompanied by a lovely mild sun. All in all, this journey is a combination of culture and recreation. |
| What can be more fun than having a superb Italian icecream in the Piazza Navona, or just watching the people on the Spanish Steps. Rome offers quite enough to look forward to! |

For many of our pupils the journey to Rome forms the climax of their career at Beekvliet. Often, pupils and their relatives spend another holiday so that they, too can get to know the magnificent city. |
