Universum school

In November 2006 Gymnasium Beekvliet was pronounced a ‘Universum School’ by Platform Bèta-Techniek. Along with 99 other schools in the Netherlands we will receive a subsidy during the next three years in order to make the education of the exact subjects and technique challenging and modern, so that more pupils will choose an exact or technical continuation course.
The departments which are involved (maths, biology, physics, chemistry) are developing two teaching modules for the school year of 2007-2008. Pupils of the N-stream in the fourth form will have classes around a subject such as ‘power measurement’ or ‘the disco’(safety, hygiene, sound level, construction) for several weeks. This will happen twice in a year.
