Introduction First Form

Education is the first form is structures in such a way that primary school leavers will gradually be introduced into the school. One of the instruments used in this gradual introduction is found in mentor lessons. The first few weeks these lessons are used to help the new pupils find their way around in school.
They are supplied with a huge amount of information concerning their new school's structure; the various subjects and their teachers; how to use their diaries correctly; doing their homework; learning a positive attitude towards their studies etc.
In the first few months the new pupils are being tested for fear of failing, dyslexia and special talents. A School Life Appreciation Test is performed to find out about the new pupils' well-being at school. Attention is also paid to bullying at school. During the second school week there is an introductory camp for first year pupils. This is done in order to give pupils and teachers an opportunity to get to know one another better on the one hand; on the other the camp facilitates a strong bonding of the pupils.
After the camp mentors, accompanied by one of their colleagues, make house-calls for further acquaintance with parents and pupils. In November the parents of all first form pupils are invited at school.
After a first, intermediate, report on their achievements pupils can be selected for extra coaching if necessary.
